A Wonderful Concert featuring Celia Craig, James Turnbull and Ian Crowther with David Rees Williams on Piano and Organ.

The programme will feature a wonderful array of pieces demonstrating the versatility of the Oboe within different periods and styles, producing a rich array of musical colours.

Celia Craig is visiting from Australia and she will perform pieces from her new Album which contain elements of improvisation.

With the added unique skills of DRW, the Show promises a real treat for all.

4 June Bach to ‘Bird’ 6pm

In ‘Bach to Bird’ we will feature some of the wonderful string arrangements that Charlie Parker recorded in the late 1940′ and early 50′ which provide a differing musical Colour to that of his famous jazz recordings and performances. With some of the original arrangments now available, we will perform numbers such as ..Just Friends, Summertime, Laura and more.

The J S Bach Piano Concerto in D minor BWV 1052 is such an exciting work and the First movement will be performed this evening together with Bach’s Oboe D Amore Concerto in A major. Other works by ‘JSB’ will be included with a stunning line up of soloists featuring David Rees Williams ( Piano) Iain Ballamy ( Saxophone) Ian Crowther ( Oboe D amore) all directed by John Harle.
